The Apostles Arrested – Acts 5:17-32The Story in a nutshell The religious leaders and the Sadducees were very angry at the apostles for the things they were doing and teaching. So, they arrested them and put them in jail. That night an angel of the Lord came and released them from jail. The angel told the disciples to go to the Temple in the morning and continue preaching to the people. In the morning the religious leaders had a meeting to decide what to do with the disciples. After the meeting they sent the guards to the jail to get the disciples. But when the guards arrived at the jail, the disciples were gone. How could this be? The gates and doors of the jail were locked. Where were the disciples? The religious leaders and guards didn’t know what to think. What now? Then someone told them that the disciples were at the Temple teaching the people. Again, the Temple guards went and arrested the disciples. “Didn’t we tell you never again teach in the name of Jesus?” Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than you. You tried to kill Jesus, but God raised him from the dead. He did this to give people the opportunity to turn from their sins and be forgiven. We are witness to all these events and so is the Holy Spirit. We must tell the people what we know and what we have seen.” Do you remember the story? Can you answer the questions below?
