Paul and Barnabas Sent – Acts 13:1-12The Story in a nutshell The church at Antioch had a number of prophets and teachers. Among them were Paul and Barnabas. One day as the men were worshipping and fasting, the Holy Spirit told the men to dedicate Paul and Barnabas for a special work. So, after more fasting and prayer, the men laid hands on Paul and Barnabas and sent them, along with John Mark as their assistant, on their way. Paul and Barnabas
traveled to the Island of Cyprus and began going from town to town
teaching the word of God. After preaching crossing the entire
Island they arrived at Paphos where they met a Jewish Sorcerer (a false
prophet) Elymas. He was hanging out with the governor, Sergius
Paulus, a man of considerable insight and understanding. The
governor invited Paul and Barnabas to visit him for he wanted to hear
the word of God. When this happened, Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked the sorcerer in the eye and told him that his trickery would not do any good. “The Lord is going to punish you for trying to stop the truth”. Instantly, darkness fell upon the man and he became blind. The sorcerer began wandering around begging for someone to help him. When the governor saw what happened, he believed the teaching of Paul and Barnabas and was amazed at what he learned about the Lord. Do you remember the story? Can you answer the questions below?
